Founded in the late 1800's Simpson was once the premier city of the region with part of it in Cloud County and the other part in Mitchell County. The old timers still remember the roller rink on the second floor of the building that housed the bakery and some still talk about the time that Lawrence Welk and his orchestra played at the old school gymnasium which now lays in ruins but was once the town meeting hall and social gathering spot of the community. Here and there you see remnants of the sidewalks that once crisscrossed the town and the foundations of ruined structures dot the landscape like forgotten passageways to another time. And within this community that is dissected by a set of railroad tracks that stretch east and west as far as the eye can see live the 100 or so individuals that call Simpson home.

There is nothing special or unique about these people and that is what truly makes them special and unique. They are simple people who have decided that they want to live their lives and raise their children in a community where a child can chase fire flies at night and play in the park by himself during the day. A place where the biggest crime is not showing up for Prime Rib night at Trappers Bar and Grill. A place where when you talk about a "Drive By" you are referring to the Rural Postal Carrier skipping your box because she has no mail for you this day.
